ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

You can acquire Eight Patron Decks in Tales of Tribute & each is themed around an organization or individual within the world of Tamriel which helps to define a playstyle.

The First Four Available are:

  • Loremaster Celarus

  • Delmene Hlaalu

  • Duke of Crows

  • St. Pelin

You unlock these initial four upon completing the Tales of Tribute In Game Tutorial & you can unlock an additional Four Decks by completing Quests & unlocking Achievements related to Tales of Tribute as well as coming across them via Drops while participating in High Isle’s Overworld content - So look out for them!

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

EACH PLAYER CHOOSES TWO PATRONS AT THE START

Before the beginning of a Tales of Tribute Match, both you & your opponent will each select Two Patron Decks to bring into the Match.

Each of these Patrons contain 20 Cards. You can think of Patrons as the Card Suits you find in Traditional Cards.

These 80 Cards, along with 20 Neutral Cards, are Shuffled into the Tavern. The Tavern is a pool of Five Cards that you & your opponent can acquire Cards from throughout the game and are Face Up in the Middle of the Game Table.

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

PATRONS ARE USEFUL, BUT COSTLY

Each Deck is accompanied by a Patron of the same name, & can be activated by you or your opponent to provide Special Boons.

You can choose to activate one each turn providing you meet the Patron's requirements, however some Card Effects and / or Combos may allow you to interact with an additional Patron.

Be Aware meeting a Patron's requirements to earn their Favour often requires the trade of another Material including Power, Coin & Even your Cards themselves.

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO WIN

In Tales of Tribute there is more than one way to Win. In fact, there are Two!

The First method of Victory is to Collect 40 or more Prestige Points. Prestige is earned via Card or Patron abilities or by converting Power at the end of each turn.

When you score 40 or more Prestige, you then need to maintain that lead through your opponent’s next turn. If your opponent can score equal or higher than you in their following turn, then you must attempt to gain an even larger lead. This process will continue until one player cannot match or gain a lead over the other during their turn or either one of you hits 80 Total Prestige.

The Second method of Victory involves gaining the Favour of all Four of the Patrons by the end of your turn. If you do, regardless of accumulated Prestige you will automatically Win.

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

AGENT CARDS

Agents are Special Cards. Unlike most cards, which go to the Cooldown Pile at the end of your turn, Agents remain in play.

Agent Cards can removed from in one of two ways:

  1. After collecting Power, you can select your opponent’s Agent and use the Power to attack and remove the Agent. Each Agent has an allotted amount of Health, & you need enough Power to match their Health in order to knock them out of play. Some agents have the ability to taunt you. Cards with taunt prevent you from converting Power to Prestige, & must be destroyed before you can strike at other Agents. You can easily identify Agents with Taunt because their Health is in a shield icon.

  2. Some cards as well as Patrons can Knock Out an Agent. If you purchase one of these cards, you can select one of the active Agents in your opponent’s hand to remove them from play.

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

CONTRACT CARDS

Most Cards that you acquire from the Tavern move into your cooldown pile upon purchase & will eventually end up in your draw pile, but this isn’t always the case. Several cards are designated as Contracts, & you’ll know these cards by their unique styling & their tooltip information.

Contracts provide a one-time ability or Agent that instantly takes effect on the table. However be careful when choosing which Contracts to acquire, since after you have used them, they’re gone for the rest of that match, (Acquiring a Contract Card from the Tavern just so your opponent is unable to use it can be a good strategy, but beware you could also hinder yourself too.)

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

COMBO CARDS

You can’t access all of a cards abilities just by playing them from your hand. Some cards will require Combos to activate bonus effects that can quickly turn the tide in your favour.

You can trigger these Combos by first playing a Combo Card to activate its primary effect & then playing another Card from the same Patron to trigger it's secondary ability.

  • Example: You could play the Loremaster Celarus Card “Ceporah’s Insight” & benefit from its primary effect of replacing two cards from the Tavern and tossing three cards from the top of your deck. Then when you play any other Loremaster Celarus Card that turn, the Ceporah’s Insight would activate its secondary effect & provide you with 3 Prestige.

Combo Cards can also have tertiary effects that you can access by repeating the process a second time.

Tip: to learn what a Card's Effect is or it's Combo Effect just hover your cursor over the Card & it will give you a brief explanation of it's effects when played including any Combo Requirements. You can also do this for Cards in the Tavern and Patron's too.

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

EACH DECK PROVIDES A UNIQUE PLAYSTYLE

Every deck in Tales of Tribute has been designed with unique gameplay to match its Lore. For example, the St. Pelin Deck is themed around High Rock’s Order of St. Pelin & are all about defensive Agent Cards & Power. Therefore the St. Pelin Cards tend are focused on the acquisition of Power to convert into Prestige & to slow down your opponent's ability to convert their Power into Prestige.

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

90 SECONDS PER TURN

In Tales of Tribute, time is a luxury when playing in Ranked or Casual Matches via the Activity Finder. You and your opponent are provided 90 Seconds per turn to assess the situation & take whatever actions are required to get the upper hand on your opponent. Neither you or your opponent are required to use the entire 90 seconds & you may choose to end your turn early. However be warned: Once your 90 Seconds have passed, your turn automatically concludes.

(You don’t have to worry about time limits in Matches with friends or against NPC's throughout Tamriel you can take your time, this is so you can learn the Game or teach others how to play without worrying about how much time you have remaining!)

ESO TALES OF TRIBUTE GUIDE: About

THE VERSATILITY OF POWER

Power is one of the most important Resources in Tales of Tribute. You can gain Power through various means, including Card Effect's & Combo's, as well as Patron abilities.

You can use Power aggressively to remove  your opponent's active Agents from the board, or your Power can be transferred 1:1 into Prestige, so use it wisely.

DEFEAT THE ASCENDANT EXECUTIONER & ASCENDANT HARROWER

The Ascendant Executioner & the Ascendant Harrower are a duo Group Boss (World Boss) on High Isle. You can find them at Dark Stone Hollow in the West of High Isle. They are also tough enemies, defeating them is certainly easier in a group with other players.

The Quest "A Final Peace" is a repeatable Daily Delve Quest in the High Isle & Amenos Zone. You can pick it up from the Daily Job Broker NPC Wayllod, in Gonfalon Bay. He offers a pool of six different Quests, so "A Final Peace" might not be the one he offers you an a given day & you can only pick up one quest from him per day. If he gives you a quest that you don't want to do, you can ask other players in Zone Chat if they can share the "A Final Peace" Quest with you.

After picking up the Quest from Wayllod, you can optionally talk to Sir Charles Haalm in the Temple of the Winds in the East of the town or go directly to Death's Valor Keep, a Delve in the North-West of High Isle.

Inside Death's Valor Keep you have to gather three Knight Skulls. The first one is at the ground floor of the keep, the two last ones are in the Death's Valor Keep Catacombs, the lower floor. Just follow the Quest Markers to find them. Return to Wayllod in Gonfalon Bay afterwards to turn in the Completed Quest.

Now you should finally have the Flower of Chivalry Achievement, which gives you the "Knight Errant" Title for your Characters & also unlocks Rajhin, the Purring Liar Patron Card Deck in Tales of Tribute.

Sorcerer King Orgnum Deck.webp

UNLOCKING SORCERER KING ORGNUM PATRON DECK

To unlock the Sorcerer-King Orgnum Patron  Deck, an additional patron for the Tales of Tribute Card Game in ESO (Elder Scrolls Online). You have to find all five of the Founders of the Tales of Tribute to complete the Deck & Unlock Sorcerer King Orgnum as a Patron.

The five Founders of the Tales of Tribute Card Game are called:

  • Fillia

  • Linyia

  • Murzaga

  • Nhorhim

  • The Author

When you fight against the founders you might notice that they have weird Decks. This is because they have Modified / Tampered versions of Decks.

After finishing the Tales of Tribute Questline & reaching the rank of Master, you can seek out and challenge the five Founders of the Roister's Club. You will receive a Fragment for the powerful Sorcerer King Orgnum Deck from them if you find & beat them in a game of Tribute.

There are 5 Fragments for the Sorcerer King Orgnum Deck:

  • Fillia's Maormer Deck Fragment

  • Linyia's Maormer Deck Fragment

  • Murzaga's Maormer Deck Fragment

  • Nhorhim's Maormer Deck Fragment

  • Author's Maormer Deck Fragment

Now lets take a look at how you can find the different Fragments, which are very well hidden all over Tamriel.

You do also get a Hint for each of the Fragments, that should help you pin down the location.

Note: You can't Challenge all of the Founders straightaway. Nhorhim only accepts your challenge if you have already collected several other decks & The Author will only play against you if you have already beaten all four other Founders.

Tip: Activate Nameplates in the Game settings, as it will make finding the NPC's a lot easier.

HOW TO FIND FILLIA'S MAORMER DECK FRAGMENT

You receive the Hint for this Fragment from the NPC Sorinne Gaerard, who is located in the Gonfalon Gaming Hall, She says "I did hear a crazy story about a card-playing ghost. […] I heard she haunts some cabin in the deepest groves of Grahtwood."

The Hint for this Fragment tells you to vist the Grathwood Zone. Once you are there, head to the Sweetbreeze Cottage Striking Locale (Eye Symbol on the Map) in the South.

You will find the NPC Fillia there and you can challenge her to a match, if you win you will acquire Fillia's Maormer Deck Fragment. Fillia is one of the five founders of the Tales of Tribute Card Game in ESO.

HOW TO FIND LINYIA'S MAORMER DECK FRAGMENT

You receive the Hint from the Innkeeper NPC Gelekh who is located in the Gonfalon Gaming Hall: She will say "[…] A Card Playing Scholar in Craglorn – weird lady rooting around in ruins for ancient games."

The Hint for this Fragment is quite tricky & hard to figure out on your own if you aren't familiar with the Zone. You will have to visit Shada's Tear in the Craglorn Zone. Port to the West of Craglorn & run to the location.

To get to Linyia, you will have to jump down the waterfall. Once you get out of the water you will find the NPC Linyia right in front of the Dungeon's entrance.

If you have trouble locating her, look for the Blue Repeatable Quest Marker, she is right next to this Quest giver.

If you have the required Rank, you can challenge her to a match & if you win, you will obtain Linyia's Maormer Deck Fragment. Linyia is one of the five Founders of the Tales of Tribute Card Game.

HOW TO FIND MURZAGA'S MAORMER DECK FRAGMENT

This Fragment is called Murzaga's Maormer Deck Fragment & is also needed to unlock the Sorcerer King Orgnum Deck for Tales of Tribute.

You receive the Hint for this Fragment from the NPC Brahgas, who is also located in the Gonfalon Gaming Hall: He will say "She was an Orc, but a real spooky sort. Gray skin. Red eyes. […] When we parted company, she mentioned something about meeting her friends at a Castle nearby. Can't remember the name. I think it had a bird in it?"

The Hint for this Fragment is also tricky because we don't get any specific location. You will have to visit Castle Ravenwatch in the Rivenspire Zone.

Inside the Castle on the upper floor you will find the NPC Murzaga. You can Challenge her to a match & if you win, you will acquire Murzaga's Maormer Deck Fragment. Murzaga is one of the five Founders of the Tales of Tribute Card Game.

Tip: If you can't enter Ravenwatch Castle you will have to do the Quest Shornhelm Divided first. You can start this Quest right in front of Castle Ravenwatch's door - the NPC Mollier Guillon who is knocking at the castle door can give you the Quest, which will take about 15 - 20 minutes to complete.

Requirement: You need to be Master Rank, otherwise she won't fight you.

HOW TO FIND NHORHIM'S MAORMER DECK FRAGMENT

This Fragment is called Nhorhim's Maormer Deck Fragment & is also required to unlock the Orgnum Deck for the Tales of Tribute Card Game.

You receive the Hint for Nhorhim's Maormer Deck Fragment from the NPC Gelekh, who is also located in the Gonfalon Gaming Hall: She says "Some Nord told me about a blind Tribute Player in Eastmarch. Said he tried to cheat but the guy knew somehow. Witchcraft, I Wager."

The Hint for this fragment tells you to visit the Eastmarch Zone. Nhormin is located in an unnamed cave in the South of the Zone. The cave entrance is just south of the Hermit's Hideout Striking Locale (Eye on the Map). Run into the cave's main room & you will find Nhorhim in an alcove to your right. Nhorhim is one of the five Founders of the Tales of Tribute Card Game.

He will only accept your Challenge if you have collected a sufficient amount of different Tales of Tribute Decks (Basically all the other Decks except Orgnum). You can check out the other sections of this Guide to see how you can unlock those Deck's as well, for example the Ansei Frandar Hunding Deck or the Rahjin, the Purring Liar Deck.

HOW TO FIND THE AUTHOR'S MAORMER DECK FRAGMENT

The final Fragment for the Orgnum Deck is called Author's Maormer Deck Fragment.

You receive the Hint for this Fragment of the Deck from the NPC Master Razhamad, who is located in the Gonfalon Gaming Hall: He will say "They walk in the City of Light amid the horrors of Azure Doom."

The Hint for this Fragment is fairly easy & will lead you to the Hollow City in the Coldharbour Zone.

Once you have Teleported into the Hollow City, move from the Wayshrine to the South East & over the bridge. You will find the NPC called The Author right after you cross the bridge. The Author is one of the five Founders of the Tales of Tribute Card Game.

She will only accept your challenge if you have beaten all other Founders before. After you have found and beaten the others, challenge her to a Tales of Tribute Match. If you Win, you will get the Author's Maormer Deck Fragment.

Now you should have found all five of the Founders & posses all five of the Orgnum Fragments needed to complete the Sorcerer King Orgnum Deck & unlock Sorcerer King Orgnum as Patron for the Tales of Tribute Card Game.

You will need to Combine all the Orgnum Fragments which can be found in your Collections Menu.
